A cold pack works primarily through static cooling over a relatively large area. Its plastic casing, which has low thermal conductivity, limits the speed of heat exchange with the skin. Furthermore, it must be held in place and makes it difficult to precisely target a specific area.
Niuk works differently: its solid medical-grade stainless steel ball, which moves constantly over the skin, combines precise mechanical massage with localized cooling.
